Meet Ralph
IKO certified instructor, 10 years on the water, and passionate about building the Blouberg beach community

My Story
I caught my first wind in 2015 and haven't looked back since. There's something about harnessing the raw power of the Cape Doctor, carving across the waves with Table Mountain looming in the distance—it's a feeling that never gets old.
After a decade of riding many spots around the country and abroad, I became IKO certified because I wanted to share that feeling with others. There's nothing like watching a student's face when they get their first controlled ride—that mix of disbelief and pure stoke. That's why I do this.
But Blouberg isn't just about kitesurfing. When the wind drops, we play volleyball. I started the Blouberg Volleyball Group as a way to keep the community together year-round—a casual, no-pressure game where everyone's welcome, regardless of skill level.
Whether you're here to learn to kite, join a downwinder, or just hit a ball around on a calm day, my goal is the same: get you out there, having fun, and feeling like part of the Blouberg beach family.

My Teaching Philosophy
Safety First
Every lesson starts with safety. Understanding wind conditions, equipment checks, and emergency procedures are non-negotiable foundations before we progress to advanced techniques.
Personalized Approach
Everyone learns differently. I adapt my teaching style to match your pace, focusing on building confidence and muscle memory through practice and patience.
Fun & Encouraging
Learning a new sport should be enjoyable! I create a relaxed, supportive environment where mistakes are part of the process and every small victory is celebrated.
Community Building
Beyond teaching techniques, I aim to integrate students into the local kitesurfing and beach community. Many of my students have become lifelong friends and regular members of our weekend crew.
